Codorníu Winery – A Modernist Treasure in the Vineyards
Codorníu is synonymous to the history of a family of winegrowers which dates back to the XVI century. It is the oldest family company in Spain and one of the oldest in the world, with more than 450 years of history to the date.
Manuel Raventós, Codorníu’s driving force, hired in 1895 the Modernist architect Josep Puig i Cadafalch (Gaudi’s coeval) to enlarge the winery. The building built represents the fruitful alliance between nature and human labour, but at the same time it also constitutes a stone tribute to the silence of cava. Declared National Historical-Artistic Heritage in 1976 it’s also one of the most incredible examples of the architecture dedicated to the elaboration and aging of cavas.
For over a century, Codorníu has always done its second fermentation and aging in an underground cellars labyrinth at just the right temperature. In 1872, Josep Raventós Fatjó made cava for the first time in Spain following the “Méthode Traditionelle” and using autochthonous grapes varietals of the Penedés: Macabeo, Xarel·lo and Parellada. Establishing this way a completely new industry in the region and linking the Codorníu brand to the cavas history.

Sitges – The Mediterranean’s Bohemian Gem
Once a quiet fishing village, Sitges became a cradle of modernist art and avant-garde culture in the late 19th century. You’ll walk along whitewashed streets dotted with art galleries, beautiful churches, and ornate mansions built by artists, writers, and wealthy patrons who gave Sitges its unique identity. The seafront promenade, with its palm trees and Belle Époque villas, offers stunning views over the Mediterranean.

WHERE DO WE MEET? Your guide will pick you up at your Hotel/ accommodation if it is located within the city limits, Sants Train Station or Cruise Pier.

HOW DO WE MOVE AROUND? Rides in Mercedes car or minivan for upto 6 of you + guide & dedicated driver. Walking during the wineries visit and Sitges.
HOW SHOULD WE DRESS? Inside the cava cellars there’s a constant temperature of around 59ºF (15ºC). A light jacket is recommended in the Summer. Also, it is advisable to wear comfortable shoes to be able to walk comfortably and if possible wear a hat or cap, it will help us to protect us from the sun.

THIS TOUR IS WHEELCHAIR FRIENDLY?
Codorníu Winery is largely accessible for guests with reduced mobility, including elevators and accessible paths, though some areas may have cobblestones or slight inclines.
Sitges has flat pedestrian areas and accessible promenades, but the historic old town includes some narrow and uneven streets.
