Our Commitment to the Safety and Well-Being of Our Guests
At Gaudí Tours Barcelona, the safety, well-being and comfort of our guests are a fundamental part of the planning and organization of every experience.
Barcelona has a Mediterranean climate and, particularly during the summer months, periods of very high temperatures, heatwaves and other weather conditions may affect the normal development of a tour.
For this reason, we have a prevention and response protocol designed to anticipate these situations, reduce potential risks and adapt our services whenever conditions require it.
Our aim is for our guests to enjoy Barcelona and Gaudí’s heritage in the greatest possible comfort, while always keeping safety as a priority.
1. MONITORING WEATHER CONDITIONS
Before and during our services, we monitor the evolution of weather conditions.
Our team may consult:
- Weather forecasts.
- Expected temperatures.
- Official warnings and alerts.
- Extreme heat conditions.
- Forecasts of heavy rain, storms or strong winds.
- Possible restrictions, closures or recommendations issued by the authorities.
- Expected conditions in the main areas included in the itinerary.
When weather conditions may affect the well-being of our guests, we assess the planned itinerary and consider possible adjustments.
This planning allows us to anticipate certain situations and reduce, as far as reasonably possible, unnecessary exposure to adverse weather conditions.
2. SPECIFIC PROTOCOL FOR HEATWAVES
During periods of high temperatures or when official heat-related warnings are in place, we pay particular attention to the planning of our services.
Depending on the specific conditions, we may:
- Adjust the order of visits.
- Reduce prolonged exposure to direct sunlight.
- Prioritize indoor visits during the hottest hours.
- Look for shaded areas during walks.
- Introduce additional breaks.
- Adapt the pace of the tour.
- Reduce unnecessary walking.
- Adjust tour times whenever possible.
- Coordinate private transportation when it is included in the service.
The ability to adapt the itinerary is particularly important in our private tours, as it allows us to respond more flexibly to the characteristics and needs of each group.
3. HYDRATION AND PROTECTION FROM THE HEAT
During periods of high temperatures, we recommend that our guests maintain adequate hydration throughout the tour.
We particularly recommend:
- Carrying sufficient water.
- Drinking water regularly.
- Using sunscreen.
- Wearing a hat or cap.
- Wearing lightweight, breathable clothing.
- Wearing comfortable footwear.
- Avoiding prolonged exposure to direct sunlight.
- Using breaks to rest in shaded areas or cooler environments.
Our guides may remind guests of these recommendations whenever weather conditions make it advisable.
4. SPECIAL ATTENTION TO CHILDREN AND VULNERABLE GUESTS
High temperatures can affect people differently.
We pay particular attention to:
- Childrens
- Older adults.
- People with reduced mobility.
- People who may be more sensitive to high temperatures.
- People who may require additional breaks.
We recommend that guests inform us before the tour of any circumstance that may be relevant to the organization of the visit.
This information allows us to better plan the pace, walking distances and rest periods.
There is no need to provide detailed medical information. We only ask for information that may be relevant to organizing a safer and more comfortable experience.
5. ADAPTING THE TOUR
One of the main advantages of a private tour is the possibility of adapting the experience to the circumstances at the time.
Depending on the weather conditions and the characteristics of the group, our guide may recommend:
- Visiting an indoor site first.
- Changing the order of certain visits.
- Taking an additional break.
- Temporarily reducing the pace of the tour.
- Looking for shaded areas.
- Reducing unnecessary walking.
- Using transportation when included in the service.
- Modifying certain parts of the itinerary when necessary.
These measures are designed to preserve the essence of the experience while reducing exposure to conditions that may cause discomfort or pose a risk to our guests.
6. WHAT WE DO IF A GUEST FEELS UNWELL
If a guest experiences symptoms of heat-related discomfort or any other health-related issue during a tour, our guide will immediately prioritize their well-being.
Depending on the circumstances, measures may include:
- Temporarily stopping the activity.
- Moving the guest to a shaded or cooler location whenever possible.
- Allowing time for rest.
- Encouraging hydration when appropriate and when the guest is able to drink safely.
- Requesting medical assistance when necessary.
- Contacting emergency services in the event of a serious or potentially serious situation.
In Spain, the emergency number is 112.
Our guides do not provide medical diagnoses or replace healthcare professionals. When a situation requires medical attention, we contact the appropriate medical or emergency services.
7. OTHER WEATHER OR EMERGENCY SITUATIONS
Our protocol is not limited to extreme heat.
We may also adapt our services in response to circumstances such as:
- Severe storms.
- Heavy rainfall.
- Strong winds.
- Flooding or flood risks.
- Adverse weather conditions.
- Restrictions on access to certain areas.
- Temporary closures of monuments or public spaces.
- Significant disruptions to transportation.
- Warnings or instructions issued by the authorities.
In all such cases, we will assess the circumstances and take the measures we consider necessary within our operational capabilities.
8. COMMUNICATION WITH OUR GUESTS
Communication is an important part of our protocol.
Our guides are available throughout the tour to address any concerns related to heat, tiredness, the pace of the visit or any other circumstance that may affect the well-being of the group.
We encourage all our guests to immediately inform the guide if they experience any symptoms of discomfort.
A timely break can prevent a more serious problem.
For this reason, we prefer to adapt the pace of the experience whenever necessary rather than wait until a guest becomes unwell.
Prevention is a shared responsibility between the tour operator and our guests.
Gaudí Tours is committed to:
- Monitoring relevant weather conditions.
- Planning services according to the expected conditions.
- Informing and advising guests when necessary.
- Making reasonable adjustments to itineraries.
- Prioritizing the safety and well-being of the group.
- Requesting professional assistance whenever circumstances require it.
10. OUR COMMITMENT
At Gaudí Tours Barcelona, we believe that a great travel experience is not simply about visiting Barcelona’s most important landmarks.
It is also about experiencing them in a responsible, comfortable and safe way.
For this reason, we monitor weather conditions, plan our services in advance and maintain the flexibility needed to adapt our tours whenever circumstances require it.
Our goal is for our guests to discover Barcelona and the legacy of Antoni Gaudí while enjoying their experience with peace of mind and confidence.
